Rajkumar Rao’s impromptu ‘Calm Down’ in ‘Stree 2’ costs Rs 25 lakh in music rights, making it the most expensive improvisation ever, says Abhishek Banerjee.

New Delhi (HT), August 28 : The sequel to the hit horror-comedy “Stree” has taken the box office by storm, with fans and critics alike praising its performance. In a recent interview, Abhishek Banerjee, one of the film’s stars, revealed an interesting tidbit about Rajkumar Rao’s improvisation during the filming of “Stree 2”.

Rao spontaneously incorporated a segment of Rema’s hit song “Calm Down” into a scene, particularly the “Low Low Low” part. This unplanned improvisation proved expensive for the filmmakers, as they had to secure the music rights at a whopping cost of Rs 25 lakh. Banerjee humorously referred to this as “Itihaas ka sabse mehnga improvisation” (the most expensive improvisation in history).

Banerjee also expressed his appreciation for the film’s commercial success, acknowledging its importance in the industry. Reflecting on “Stree 2’s” success, he noted the challenge of living up to the legacy of the original “Stree”. He admitted that while he anticipated the film would do well, its monumental success was beyond his expectations.
