Rainstorms Bring Death and Destruction to Eastern Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania : Five people have died in eastern Romania after very strong rainstorms caused flooding and left many people stuck. The storms were very bad in the areas of Galati and Vaslui, and emergency services had to help 95 people who were stranded. The bodies of three elderly women and two men were found in the towns of Pechea, Draguseni, Costache Negri, and Corod.

The authorities said that one of the victims had been dead for two days before the storm, and didn’t die because of the rain. They also found that many trees fell down because of the strong winds, which damaged cars and blocked roads.

Emergency services released videos of rescuers saving an elderly man on a small boat and taking him to safety. They also used a special helicopter to help with the rescue efforts.

The storms were very bad in many parts of Romania, with some areas getting over 160 liters of rain per square meter. This is a very rare occurrence. The environment minister said that they are trying to save as many lives as possible.

The Prime Minister of Romania canceled his plans to visit Galati county to assess the situation. He will discuss with local authorities how to help the people who were affected by the floods.

The weather is also very bad in other countries in Europe, such as the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, and Hungary. Many people are without power and some houses have been flooded.

In the Czech Republic, river waters are very high and many people have had to leave their homes. Heavy rain has also caused problems in Moldova, where emergency workers are pumping out floodwater from homes.

Meteorologists say that a low-pressure system from northern Italy is causing the rain. They are warning that it could get even worse.

The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic said that they need to be ready for the worst-case scenario. The weather forecast is warning of severe flooding in many parts of Europe over the weekend.

In Poland, many people have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. The authorities are warning that it could get even worse.

The weather has changed suddenly after a hot start to September in the region. Scientists have documented that this summer was the hottest on record.
